On April 14, CBS Sunday Morning aired a piece that perpetuated false claims against recycling and recyclable materials. Matt Seaholm, President and CEO of PLASTICS, issued an immediate response:
"Disappointingly, CBS News offered a one-sided, biased view of recycling, citing false claims that plastic materials cannot be recycled – nothing could be further from the truth. By showcasing extremists who denounce recycling and have no interest in finding actual solutions to addressing plastic waste, CBS has amplified the false narratives of privately funded organizations that seek to eliminate plastic altogether."
Tad McGwire to Receive William R. Carteaux Leadership Award
Tad McGwire, President of Industrial Heater Corp. and Immediate Past-Chair of the PLASTICS Board of Directors, has been selected by his peers to receive the Association's William R. Carteaux Leadership Award.
Named after the late CEO of PLASTICS, Bill Carteaux, the award recognizes unity, dedication, perseverance, and selflessness, and is intended for an industry professional who has achieved distinction working for the betterment of the plastics industry.
Tad has been an active member of PLASTICS for over 40 years and has served on multiple committees and boards since 2005, including as Chair of the Board of Directors and Chairman of NPE.
The award presentation will take place during the Plastics Hall of Fame Gala in Orlando, the Sunday of NPE2024 week.
