🏛️ PLASTICS Supports New Federal Recycling Legislation
The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has joined a broad industry coalition in support of the CIRCLE Act of 2025—new bipartisan legislation introduced by Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Tom Suozzi (NY-03).
The Cultivating Investment in Recycling and Circular Local Economies (CIRCLE) Act, H.R. 4466, would create targeted tax credits to encourage private investment in recycling infrastructure. The bill aims to help manufacturers and recyclers modernize operations, improve material recovery, and create jobs—while reinforcing recycling as a critical part of the circular economy.

📊 Tariffs, Inflation, and Plastics: What’s Really Driving Prices?
Headline inflation rose to 2.7% in June, with core inflation close behind at 2.9%. But the real story behind these numbers, especially when it comes to tariffs, is more complex than it seems.
In his latest blog, Dr. Perc Pineda unpacks how tariffs *are—and aren’t*showing up in both consumer and producer prices. He explores:
🔍 Why tariff impacts vary by sector, product, and supply chain strategy 🏷️ How some companies absorb costs while others pass them on 🏭 Why plastics pricing remains relatively stable, even amid trade uncertainty
Bottom line: Inflationary pressure from tariffs isn’t one-size-fits-all. It depends on how companies choose to respond.
♻️ New Partnership Expands EPS Recycling Access in Colorado
The Polystyrene Recycling Alliance (PSRA)—a self-funded initiative of the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS)—has announced a new partnership with Circular Colorado to expand recycling access for expanded polystyrene (EPS) across the state. This collaboration addresses a key industry challenge: making EPS recycling viable in rural and underserved communities.
PSRA and Circular Colorado will integrate EPS into the Circular Transportation Network (CTN), a statewide system that moves recyclable materials from remote areas to central processing hubs. This approach helps overcome common barriers such as low material volume, high transportation costs, and limited infrastructure.
EPS collected through the program will be aggregated, densified, and shipped to existing end markets—demonstrating that EPS can be recycled at scale with the right infrastructure in place.
