🌟 FLiP Spotlight: Matthew Dickerson’s Leadership Journey at Mid South Extrusion

Matthew Dickerson’s path into the plastics industry wasn’t a traditional one. Nearly two years ago, he joined Mid South Extrusion (MSE) when the timing and opportunity aligned. Today, as Chief Strategy Officer, Matthew leads Sales, Human Resources, Compliance, and Safety—playing a key role in guiding teams and strengthening operations across the company.

With a background in education, small business ownership, and executive leadership, Matthew brought a people-focused and strategic mindset to MSE. Exposure to blown film manufacturing—serving furniture, bedding, carpet, and packaging markets—quickly deepened his appreciation for the industry. “I pay much more attention to plastics now,” he says, noting that he often finds himself studying packaging just to understand how it’s made.

Mentorship and community have been central to Matthew’s growth. Through the FLiP Mentorship Program, he’s been paired with John Erkert, CEO of Piovan Group. The experience, Matthew says, has had a meaningful impact, complementing the guidance he receives from MSE’s executive team and reinforcing the collaborative nature of the plastics industry.

Matthew joined Future Leaders in Plastics (FLiP) shortly after coming to MSE and has since participated in meetings, fly-ins, and FLiP events. He’s especially passionate about workforce development and believes PLASTICS and FLiP play an important role in strengthening the industry’s future.
