Seaholm to Congress: "America Must Play Catch Up" on Recycling Infrastructure
On June 30, our CEO Matt Seaholm offered online testimony before The Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change of the U.S. Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing entitled, “No Time to Waste: Solutions for America’s Broken Recycling System.”
In his opening statement, Matt pointed out that over many years, America’s recycling infrastructure has not kept pace with the increase in plastics technology and innovation, making it clear that we are now faced with having to make up for lost time.
After citing references to the billions of dollars the PLASTICS industry has invested in recycling innovations and billions more that are planned, Matt went on to explain several ways in which Congress might support the effort to increase recycling rates.
Matt then joined other speakers in taking questions from Congressional committee members and offering industry expertise.
Matt Seaholm appeared recently on Newsy's "The Why" program, emphasizing the value plastics bring to society, why plastics make better environmental sense than alternatives, and the need to improve our nation’s recycling infrastructure in order to collect and recycle more of it.
