PLASTICS Warns Against a Proposal to End Federal Government Purchase of Single-Use Plastics
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is currently considering a rule that would ban the federal government and its agencies from purchasing single-use plastics. PLASTICS has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the environmental and economic harm such a rule could cause.
PLASTICS President and CEO, Matt Seaholm, said in a release “A proposal such as this from GSA would run counter to the administration’s environmental goals to reduce emissions,” adding, “It would force the use of products and materials that likely have a much larger environmental footprint than the plastic products the administration would be looking to phase out.”
Seaholm also made note of the many millions of dollars the proposed GSA ban on single-use plastics would cost taxpayers. Learn more about the GSA’s proposed rule and its potential impacts at This Is Plastics.
