On December 1, two members of the U.S. Senate and two members of the U.S. House of Representatives jointly introduced unfair and poorly informed legislation painting the plastics industry as a threat to American communities. Two of these four sponsors are concluding their terms in service, and the presentation of these policies appear as an effort to gain public attention.
PLASTICS takes these threats to our industry extremely seriously, and is refuting such strongly critical language through our initial responses and through the Senate and House Committee process. Read PLASTICS' remarks in response to the proposed legislation at the PLASTICS website.
President and CEO Matt Seaholm will testify before the U.S. Senate Committee on Environmental and Public Works on Thursday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. EST. The Hearing, entitled, "Examining the Impact of Plastic Use and Identifying Solutions for Reducing Plastic Waste," will be held live on Capitol Hill. The hearing will be streamed live HERE.

U.K. Conformity Marking Update
The U.K. Government is now delaying implementation of the UKCA mark (which indicates conformity with the applicable requirements for products sold within Great Britain) for two years until December 31, 2024, from January 1, 2023. Products that meet CE mark requirements can be sold in the U.K. marked with a CE mark now for the next two years without having to worry about affixing a UKCA mark. Please contact Suzanne Morgan in PLASTICS Government Affairs division with questions.
