On July 19, the White House issued an announcement on Mobilizing Federal Action on Plastic Pollution: Progress, Principles, and Priorities, calling for, in part, the elimination of certain plastic products from federal purchasing.
PLASTICS responded immediately with a statement from President and CEO, Matt Seaholm, which included: “We are disappointed in today’s White House announcement, which arbitrarily singles out plastic under the false pretense of a lower environmental impact....Plastic as a material continues to offer unparalleled safety, protection, and efficiency and can be reused and recycled, reducing our overall resource needs."
