PLASTICS Represented at INC-5

UNEP2

President and CEO Matt Seaholm and Vice President of Sustainability Patrick Krieger recently represented PLASTICS in Busan, South Korea for INC-5, the fifth session of discussions on the U.N. plastics pollution instrument.

Prior to the start of the negotiations, PLASTICS’ President and CEO Matt Seaholm stated: “We are concerned about a number of the provisions that have been proposed that far exceed the scope of the original intent of the process to create an international agreement—including the idea capping production of plastic, which would harm nearly all U.S. manufacturers without reaching our shared sustainability goals… As an industry, we remain committed to collaborating with all levels of government to combat plastic waste. Ensuring that the U.S. economy thrives while responsibly using our resources is a bipartisan priority.” To read PLASTICS’ full statement on INC-5 please click here.
