Plastics Machinery Shipments Slowed in the Second Quarter
Shipments of primary plastics machinery (injection molding and extrusion) in North America decreased for the second consecutive quarter according to the statistics compiled and reported by PLASTICS' Committee on Equipment and Statistics (CES). Read more here.

PLASTICS Research Working Group: Finding Meaning in the Literature
Earlier this year, an internal working group at PLASTICS was formed to review a wide variety of literature on plastics research. The goal of this group is to arm the industry with objective and positive research on plastics to separate myth from fact and highlight the many positive contributions plastics have made to society. ICYMI: PLASTICS Chief Economist Featured Speaker at 19th Annual Carpet Recycling Conference
Perc Pineda, Ph.D., kicked off this year's Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) annual meeting by sharing wide-ranging economic analysis spanning global growth projections to data specific to the carpet sector. Pineda noted the rising U.S. imports of carpets and floor coverings and retail sales of building materials and suppliers, which averaged 17.2% monthly year-over-year from May to December in 2020.
In the first half of this year, it has increased by 19.2% a month on average year-over-year. Judging by imports and the current demand for carpets and rugs, carpet recovery efforts are expected to continue.
